Medicine Buddha -The Spiritual Healing Power of Buddha

According to Wikipedia, the Medicine Buddha, "is the Buddha of healing." The name means, "Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Light." He is associated with healing the illnesses and sufferings of human beings.

The full name of this Buddha is Bhaisjyaguru. He is depicted to have a deep lapis lazuli colored body, which signifies, "wisdom and compassion."

Lapis Lazuli is a semi-precious stone that is said to have curative powers.

In addition, he is dressed in the robes of a monk, and seated in a cross legged, or lotus posture on a petaled lotus. On his left hand, he is holding a begging bowl filled with healing nectar, while his right hand is resting upon his knee with palm facing outward, granting blessings, and holding a flower, or "stem of a myrobalan plant."

It is believed that by reciting his mantra or simply repeating his name an individual can overcome sickness.
