Sai Baba -A Spiritual Healer
Sai Baba, a spiritual healer, was a man with extraordinary spiritual gifts. Not much is known about his early years. What is known with certainty is that he arrived to the village of Shirdi at the age of sixteen, possessed remarkable powers, and died in 1918.
According to H.S. Ganguly, in his book, Sai Baba of Shirdi, the people of Shirdi first noticed him while he was sitting under a neem tree. His divine greatness became apparent when a man named Yad Patil had lost his beloved black horse.
Yad Patil and his men searched and searched, but to no avail. During the search, they entered the village of Shirdi, and began asking people if they had seen the horse. The response was negative. At that point, Sai Baba addressed Yad Patil and assured him that he would get his horse back. As he raised his right hand to bless Yad Patil, "people heard the sound of a galloping horse." To everyone's amazement, the horse had reappeared and was standing near Yad Patil. After witnessing the event, the people wanted to know more about this amazing young man.
Sree Chakravarti states in her book, A Healer's Journey, that the people of Shirdi recognized his supreme greatness
when a few shepherd boys, "were playing under the neem tree where Sai Baba was sitting...they saw a full-grown cobra...making a beeline for one of the boys...before the cobra could strike," Sai Baba, "gently upbraided the snake" and asked it, why he wanted to hurt the child? "The snake stopped in its tracks, glided to Sai Baba, dipped its hood in homage at his feet, and then slid away." When the villagers became aware of this miracle, he was looked at with great admiration.
In addition to the above mentioned, Sai Baba was also known for healing all ailments with vibhuti or udhi (holy ash). In H.S.Ganguly's book, he describes a case of a man who went to Sai Baba for help. His wife, who looked after his blind mother and lame sister, had become ill. She was getting weaker everyday. One day, she became extremely ill. Filled with fear that his wife was going to die, he ran to see Sai Baba. He was given three packets of vibhuti-one for each of his family members. He rushed home, placed the contents of one packet of vibhuti on his mother's eyes, gave the second packet to his sister with instructions on what to do, and the third packet he poured into his wife's mouth. He was astonished to see that his mother was seeing, his sister was walking, and his wife had fully recovered.
"For Those Who Believe, No Words Are Necessary; For Those Who Do Not Believe, No Words Are Possible".........Dom Inacio de Loyola
During my stay in Shirdi, a short and simple spiritual prayer came to my mind.
Sai Baba, open up my heart and my mind so that I can see and feel God's light.
One should say this prayer three times. Place your hands over the heart area when referring to the heart; and place your hands on your forehead when referring to the mind. This prayer should be done with a lot of faith and love.
May Sai Baba, Spiritual Healer, hear your prayer and grant you your wish.
"You may go anywhere in the world, and there I go with you. My abode is your heart; I dwell within you".........SaiBaba
May my spiritual painting of this extraordinary spiritual healer, Sai Baba, bring comfort and spiritual healing to all those in need.
May Sai Baba bless and grant you and your family health, peace and good fortune now and always ..............................
